Singer-songwriter and actor, Omar Apollo has debuted a new look at the 2025 Met Gala. The Queer film actor showed off a new hairstyle of bright yellow highlights against his pitch black mane as he was leaving The Carlyle Hotel.
The tousled look appears to be brand new, as the fluorescent look was not visible yesterday, when Apollo greeted fans in NYC ahead of fashion’s biggest night.
The colorful look has online viewers commenting that his look makes him appear almost unrecognizable.
Others are poking fun at the bright tresses.

This is Omar Apollo’s second Met Gala appearance. Last year he attended wearing an oversized Loewe suit with long aluminum beads covering the lapels. Apollo didn’t use any references last year to complete his look, focusing on “just vibes” to bring the ensemble together.
The 2025 Met Gala put a spotlight on Black styling and tailoring with the 2025 spring exhibition titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The exhibit draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, and “feature garments, paintings, photographs, and more—all exploring the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th-century through present day.”
